Ask Apollo Anything*
*While you can technically ask anything, Lord Apollo does not always answer. Please consider the following advice to increase your chances of receiving a helpful answer from the Lord of Light. Our oracle offers divine insights once each lunar cycle, but remember—the oracle can only answer the questions as they are asked. To help you get the most out of your experience, we encourage you to consider the POSITIVE acronym when crafting your questions:
POSITIVE stands for:
- Proactive
- Open-ended
- Specific
- Integrity-driven
- Time-bound
- Intentional
- Valuable
- Ethical
Good Example:
"What steps can I take over the next year to bring more balance and joy into my life?"
- Proactive: Encourages action.
- Open-ended: Allows for a more detailed response.
- Specific: Focuses on balance and joy.
- Integrity-driven: Reflects a genuine desire for self-improvement.
- Time-bound: Specifies "over the next year."
- Intentional: Clearly directed at personal growth.
- Valuable: Provides actionable advice.
- Ethical: The question is sincere and responsible.
Bad Example:
"Will I be happy?"
- Not Proactive: This question is passive and doesn't encourage action.
- Not Open-ended: The answer might be a simple "yes" or "no."
- Not Specific: The question is too broad.
- Not Integrity-driven: Lacks depth and introspection.
- Not Time-bound: No timeframe is given.
- Not Intentional: The purpose is vague.
- Not Valuable: Doesn't offer much to build on.
- Ethical?: While not unethical, it's not very meaningful.
Another Bad Example:
"How can I achieve all my desires?"
This question is too broad and lacks the necessary focus. It may result in an answer that references one of the two primary Delphic maxims:
1. "Know thyself"
2. "Nothing in excess"
If your question can be answered adequately by one of these maxims, Apollo tends to give that as the answer.
Your question should refrain from ambiguous language. For instance, if you ask, "Will I win the war?" you might receive a response as ambiguous as the famous one given to a king: "A great empire will fall." The king, thinking this meant his victory, went to war only to discover that the empire to fall was his own. This is why it’s crucial to craft your questions with depth and clarity.
Please note that the oracle may choose to remain silent or refuse to answer certain questions. Apollo, who oversees the oracle, often declines to answer inquiries related to war or conflict.
The wisdom of Apollo is not taken lightly, and the nature of your question matters greatly.
Questions are answered as time allows on the lunar seventh of each month. Here is our official Google calendar:
There is no fee for this service; it is freely given as an act of divine guidance. While offerings to Apollo and/or the Temple are traditional and welcomed as a sign of respect, they are not required for your question to be considered. However, a thoughtful offering may reflect your sincerity and reverence for the divine guidance you seek.
As a modern temple, we’re exploring ways to connect with people globally, bringing the insight of the oracle into the digital age. We want to help you ask the best questions possible, so you receive the most insightful and helpful answers. The Oracle is eager to guide you, but the quality of the response depends on the quality of the question.
So before you submit your question, take a moment to reflect on POSITIVE and ensure your question is crafted with care. The better the question, the better the guidance.
